Membership
The guild is a membership-driven organization. An annual individual membership costs $25; each guild membership year begins in September and runs through the following August. All the money collected is put towards fiber programming and education in the Boston area. The membership entitles one to attend the guild meetings for free, as well as receive discounts to other special events.
If you pay the $5 guest fee at a meeting and become a member by the end of the meeting, your guest fee will count towards your guild membership. We cannot count guest fees from previous meetings towards guild membership.
Membership is seasonal — meaning that no matter when you join, your membership is good until the end of the season. Seasons run from September to July. For this reason, we stop taking new memberships after our 4th meeting of the season, and start taking memberships for the next season at our last (July) meeting. We feel it’s not fair to new members to join only for a couple of meetings when everyone else gets to reap the benefits for the better part of a year.
However, we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and welcome donations outside of membership dues during any time of the year.
We are now taking membership fees for the 2011-2012 season.

I joined at the Annie Modesitt lecture and wonder if I should expect my membership card in the mail?
We’ll be sending out the membership packets shortly. We used to do it all at the meeting but it’s just too much work when there’s a huge line of people waiting to be processed. Now we’re sending out packets after the meetings instead.
