The 2018-2019 season of the Common Cod Fiber Guild is looking AMAZING. You can become a member today! Membership is $45, which gets you into all 7 of our paid meetings for free – otherwise it is $10 for general admission to EACH lecture. Membership also gets discounts at local and online fiber and fabric stores, see the bottom of the common cod home page for details.

Here are the events we have scheduled so far (yes, there are more awesome ideas in the works):

Friday, Sept 21st 2018 – The New England Foundation for the Arts‘ communications manager Ann Wicks will share who NEFA is and give an overview of programs, with a highlight on local public art opportunities. Morganna Becker, CreativeGround associate, will give an overview of NEFA’s region-wide directory of artists, cultural organizations, and creative businesses, and how your organization and members can use it to highlight work and connect with others.

At the Friends Meeting at Cambridge in Harvard Square. Free for members, $10 general admission.

ABOUT NEFA:

NEFA invests in artists and communities and fosters equitable access to the arts, enriching the cultural landscape in New England and the nation. NEFA accomplishes this by granting funds to artists and cultural organizations; connecting them to each other and their audiences; and analyzing their economic contributions. NEFA serves as a regional partner for the National Endowment for the Arts, New England’s state arts agencies, and private foundations. Learn more at www.nefa.org.

Friday, Oct 19 2018Sarah Kuhn of Thinking with Things and UMass Lowell presents a talk about textile arts and STEM – “Knit, woven, stitched, designed, dyed, and manipulated textiles are all around us, including next to our skin, but most people do not see the deep connection they have to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) concepts. Whether you love or hate math and science, you will be inspired by this talk!”

At the Friends Meeting at Cambridge in Harvard Square. Free for members, $10 general admission.
