Our next Guild meeting is on Friday, November 8th, at 7PM, with Donna Panner, an award-winning spinner who teaches classes in drop spindle and wheel spinning as well as in fiber preparation and dye. She founded Spin City-NY, a weekly meet-up group for spinners in NYC. She worked as Technical Designer for Marc Ecko and will discuss garment fit, including the importance of fit, different types of fit, and what to look for when fitting a garment.
The November meeting is also the setting for our annual bake sale, a fundraiser for the Guild. If you’d like to contribute, please bring baked goods individually wrapped and priced, and provide an index card listing the ingredients. You can also contribute by buying treats!
The November Guild meeting will be held in MIT’s Stata Center, Room 141, 32 Vassar Street, Cambridge, MA. The Stata Center is 5 minutes from the Kendall Square T stop on the Red Line; there’s also parking on the street or in area lots. Flyers are here.
On Saturday, November 9th, from 9AM-12PM, Donna will teach a hands-on workshop on draping. Students will pair up to drape basic tops on each other. The workshop is $75, with a $10 discount for Guild members (members should already have received the discount code; email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you didn’t). You can bring your own supplies or purchase them from Donna for $25. Tickets and materials packages are available here.
The draping workshop will be held in MIT’s Tang Center (Building E51), 2 Amherst Street, Room 095, Cambridge, MA. The Tang Center is 5 minutes from the Kendall Square T stop on the Red Line; there’s also a parking lot that’s free on weekends.
