The Guild has an exciting slate of events planned for the winter season! We kick off with a festive holiday potluck in December to relax, enjoy the company of other fiber crafters, have a nice meal, and maybe even make some progress on our holiday gift making. In January, the Guild is hosting two great events in one weekend, Ignite:Craft Boston and FiberCamp: three days of inspiration, learning, sharing, and community for fabric, fiber, and other crafters (downloadable flyer here).
Holiday Potluck: Sunday, December 16, 4:00-7:00 pm
We invite all our Guild members to a holiday potluck at Space with a Soul in Boston on Sunday, December 16th, from 4:00-7:00 pm!
We will have dishes, napkins, silverware, cold drinks, tea, and mulled cider. Bring your appetite and your best appetizer, entrée, side dish, or dessert.
Feel free to bring a guest or significant other, and of course bring your knitting, crochet, spinning, etc., since we’ll have ample space for hanging out and enjoying each other’s company, in addition to the food.
If you will be attending, please RSVP here.

Ignite:Craft Boston: Friday, January 11, doors at 6:30 pm
Our upcoming Guild meeting on Friday, January 11th features version 3.0 of the inspirational Ignite:Craft Boston, a series of 16-18 juicy 5-minute talks on every craft imaginable, from knitting to cheese-making, from wildcrafting to chocolatiering.
The format is unique and exciting and our Ignite events are usually “sold out.” The event is free, but due to limited space, you will need a ticket to enter. You can see past talks here; submit a proposal for your own presentation here.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and presentations begin promptly at 7:00 pm. There will be an intermission with refreshments.

FiberCamp Boston: Saturday & Sunday, January 12-13, 8:30-5:00 pm
Over the weekend, the Guild hosts two days of FiberCamp! For those who haven’t attended before, FiberCamp is a casual, comfortable, low-key, community-created conference where you can learn from others, share your skills, hang out with like-minded fabric and fiber crafters, de-stash (or re-stash) at the swap table, and buy or sell fabric-y and fiber-y wares in the marketplace.
While we are limiting our crafts somewhat more than Ignite:Craft, we are opening the gates to fabric crafters as well as fiber crafters. There’s been so much overlap between the knitting and sewing cultures recently that we decided to let FiberCamp reflect that this year.
This is an event that is literally created by the participants. There are three classrooms and four time slots for classes each day, and you can attend for one of the days or both. About half the class slots will be filled before FiberCamp begins, and the other half will be filled organically at the conference as ideas and inspiration strike. Check the FiberCamp wiki to see what people have already requested and offered to share, and to make requests and offers of your own.
This year we are also offering childcare! We ask for a minimal commitment of $10 per family, regardless of how long your child or children stay in childcare. We will be using a licensed babysitting service. You can email email@example.com if you have specific questions. You can RSVP for childcare at https://www.wepay.com/events/fibercamp2013-childcare. If you want childcare, you MUST reserve your spot by the end of the day on Saturday, January 5th, 2013.
Buy your tickets now, before the price goes up in January! As an added bonus, anyone who signs up for a weekend pass will get a free special gift when they arrive, and non-members who sign up for a weekend pass will also get a Guild membership for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.
For vendors, each vendor pass will come with a separate weekend pass so you can bring two people and trade off taking workshops and tending your wares. SAT: check-in 8:30-9:30, conference 9:30-4:15, vendors between 8:30-5:00
SUN: check-in 8:30-9:30, conference 9:30-3:45, vendors between 8:30-4:30
