Clara Parkes

I am really excited about our next meeting. Clara Parkes is coming to talk to us about her love affair with yarn and is bringing copies of her book “The Knitter’s Book of Yarn” for signing.

I have posted this event to because they have a great option to save the event to your calendar. Try it out here.

The reason it has taken me so long to post about this event is because I have been working hard with Anne (head of MIT Histroy) and Shreya (organizer at MITKnit) to get us a bigger room at the MIT Stata center. Anne and Shreya have been wonderful to our group and reserved us a large room on the ground floor of the Stata Center. We are now in Room 32-123. It should be able to hold 300 of our fiber friends, so please bring out as many friends as you like.

After the talk Clara has agreed to hang out and do some book signing. As usual we will probably head up to the 4th floor to hang around the R&D pub until it closes.

  1. Gosh – Clara is so much younger and prettier than her name would lead one to believe. I expected to see something like my own seamed face and graying hair. How can one so young be so knowledgeable :)

  2. You are in for a great treat! Clara spoke to the Tidewater Knitting Guild of Virginia in October. In fact her name is still spoken around the knitting world here in Hampton Roads. You’ll hear…well Clara says…and out will come words of wisdom!

    Enjoy her visit.

  3. oh you guys are so lucky to have her :) It just cracks me up that there will be a great group of knitters at MIT (I’m a III-B 1996!) – especially if you guys successfully fill that room! Clara’s book is one of my absolute favorites .

  4. The talk was *great* and it was both informative and hilarious (ah, the theory of stashitivity…) – thanks to all who organized this event. I’m hooked.
